BA (Hons) Business Management Studies



Course Content

The BA (Hons) Business and Management Studies degree (with or without pathways) is a highly popular and vibrant programme within Cardiff School of Management.  The most recent figures for the National Student Survey (2013) showed an overall satisfaction rate of 100% for the programme.
The content of the programme is continually updated to ensure as far as possible, the currency and relevance of the modules studied.
Most of our students enter the business world after graduation. Knowledge and understanding of business management is paramount, as well as students developing the graduate employability skills required from employers. From the moment of induction to completion of your final year, employability is an important aspect of your degree programme.  As soon as you join us your are enrolled on to the Passport to Success initiative. 
We also hold Careers Fairs and social networking events with employers and provide a compulsory work experience module in year two, which we can arrange for you.  Alternatively, if you intend to become a young Entrepreneur and start your own business, you would likely join Launch Pad operated by our Centre for Entrepreneurship, which aids you in business practice to develop your business while you are a university student.
We are also able to offer progression to postgraduate study, such as the MSc in International Business Management, LLM in Law, MSc Human Resource Management, MSc Marketing and the MBA.
Degree:
The course structure develops from a compulsory first year, consisting of six modules, to only two compulsory modules in the final year of study. This will enable you to direct your interests into a specialised pathway or specific set of option modules, whilst ensuring that you receive a sound understanding and appreciation of the central tenants required of all business and management students.  The programme also allows for considerable flexibility to ensure that you are academically guided in your ultimate choice as to whether to graduate with a BA (Hons) Business and Management Studies degree, or a BA (Hons) Business and Management Studies degree with one of the available named pathways.

You will undertake a compulsory work placement module in the First, Second and Third year as this is considered an essential requirement for all business and management students. For those who wish, there is the additional opportunity to take a sandwich year between years two and the final year.
